NFL Week 1 – Parlay Picks

It’s week 1, football is back! There are some great matchups this week to kick off the season, starting with Thursday’s game where the Bills finally got a shot at the Rams and they made the most of it. It wasn’t a hot start for the reigning Super Bowl champs, but I have Josh Allen on my fantasy team, so that seems promising so far.

Today we will get a glimpse into how teams have progressed in the off season. How will the Packers do with Davante leaving to rejoin his Fresno State teammate? I’m still taking them and Rodgers over the Vikings today. Russell Wilson faces his old team tomorrow, that will make for an exciting first Monday night game. The Bengals faceoff against a Division rival Steelers team with a new quarterback for the first time in 18 years. Will the grit we’ve seen out of the Lions in training camp translate into success in the regular season?

Chiefs vs Cardinals Parlay

The Chiefs have some things to figure out with several new receiving weapons. If you remember, they had a slow start last year as well, I’m going with the Cardinals today. The teams haven’t played each other in 4 years, but this is a different Cardinals team. Cardinals coach Kliff Kingsbury is familiar with Mahomes, he recruited him out of high school to Texas Tech ten years ago. The Cardinals performed well when away last year, but they are better off not being at Arrowhead for this one.

The Cardinals, similar to the Raiders, traded for their quarterback’s former teammate in Marquise Brown. With Hopkins out, I’m looking for some yards out of that connection today. I’m also hoping James Conner continues scoring touchdowns like he did last year. Today will be a milestone for Mahomes, he is just 7 yards shy of 19,000, which will be the fastest quarter back to reach that number. Since he is trying out some new receivers, along with the Cardinals being banged up in the corner position, including one CB out due to a cooking accident, I’m thinking his tried and true tight end Travis Kelce has a good day today.

Raiders vs. Chargers Parlay

Two more teams in the AFC West face off today, the underrated Raiders vs the overrated Chargers. One of the questions I’m most excited about seeing today is how reuniting Derek Carr and Davante Adams plays out. Carr was consistently in the top five in passing yards all year last year, and now he has one more very familiar weapon at his disposal. The challenging part for a parlay is picking who will benefit today. I’m hedging a bit, picking Adams for a touchdown and Hunter Renfrow still getting decent yards. It is the first game, so I’m going with Carr alternate yards and rounding out the pick with Austin Ekeler seeing some receptions from Justin Herbert, another top five passer last year.
